Once again, we have had another successful workshop! Our Modesto workshop, which was put on in conjunction with our partner organization, the Local Government Commission, featured keynote speaker, Dr. Geoffrey Donovan of the US Forest Service. The workshop also hosted an entire panel of dynamic speakers with fascinating stories of their urban forestry programs, what challenges were faced in the process, and how they ultimately were successful in meeting their goals. Our panel included Dana Karcher of Davey Resource Group, Julie Saare-Edmonds of the Department of Water Resources, Jocelyn Reed from the City of Modesto, and Mike Willett from the City of Patterson. We also had the opportunity to hear from Darla Mills of CalFire about what funding opportunities should become available for the application process within the next few months.

Those of you who missed the workshop, don’t fret! We were fortunate enough to record the event and it is available here: Putting the Green Back in Urban Greening – Modesto.

You can also view our online workshops, How to Properly Manage Your Urban Forest in Times of Drought, and CalFire Funding Opportunities.

Don’t forget to sign up for our two remaining online workshops, Key Elements to an Urban Forest Management Plan (8/25/2015) and Assessing your Urban Forest Resources with I-Tree (9/1/2015). Click the links above for more information and to register.

As always, our wonderful team of AmeriCorps members is always here to assist communities with their applications. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Lanham at projectmanager@caufc.org.
