We have some exciting updates to share with you regarding the Civicspark program’s past and upcoming workshop events!
The Fresno dinner and workshop a huge success! Dr. Igor Laćan, Urban Forestry Advisor for the UC Extension, was the keynote speaker for both the dinner and the workshop. Our wonderful workshop speakers included Eric Aller from the City of Clovis, Anne Fenkner from Davey Resource Group, Lee Ayres from Tree Fresno, and Darla Mills from CalFire. The AmeriCorps members also gave a great presentation. Enthusiasm was quite high, and several of the attendees would like to take part in this exciting program!
We will have another exciting workshop scheduled in early August in Modesto, with Dr. Geoffrey Donovan as the keynote speaker. Plenty of other fascinating speakers will be there to tell their story and get everyone motivated!
Finally, the program will also have a series of four FREE online workshops, which will include:
- Urban forest management in times of drought
- Working through the CALFIRE grant process/working with CalEnviroScreen
- Key elements to developing an urban forest management plan/working with the UFMP toolkit
- Assessing your Urban Forest Resources with I-Tree
These are scheduled to start in early August as well, and we hope to offer ISA CEUs for all five of our workshops. Please check back soon for dates and even more exciting news!
