plantingWe’re excited to announce our NEW – Community Tree Planting Program. California Urban Forests Council and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, is coordinating a multi-location, multi-organization tree planting event. This is a fantastic opportunity for community organizations, local governments, air and water districts, utilities, schools, public health groups etc. in the San Francisco Bay Area (nine-county area) and the Southern San Joaquin Valley (Kern and Tulare Counties) to get FREE trees and assistance in planting those trees.

The objective is to plant thousands of trees all in one day on February 15, 2014.  It’s no coincidence that the event is planned for Valentine’s Day weekend. Let’s show our community spirit and love for our neighbors by planting trees to build strong and healthy communities throughout California.  The program will work with statewide and regional partners to organize, train, and equip tree planting partners for the main event.  Public education and media outreach will help to build awareness about the benefits of trees in our communities, proper tree care and maintenance, and help recruit partners and volunteers to participate in the tree planting event.
