Let’s Create A Green Corridor!
The Invest From the Ground Up – Albany campaign will focus on the San Pablo, Madison, Adams and Jackson Streets neighborhoods in Albany and will aim to create the city’s first-ever Green Corridor. Over the next several months, along with our wonderful local partners—The City of Albany, Albany Community Foundation, Transition Albany, Albany Chamber of Commerce, and Bay Area Forest Ecosystems Council— we’ll be sharing important information about how and why a Green Corridor is crucial to the health and success of the Albany community. For example:
- Businesses do better on tree-lined streets. Trees can actually improve businesses’ bottom lines by drawing in more customers, who will pay more, stay longer and leave happier.
- Trees increase property values. Simply having trees on your street can increase property values by an average of $8,870.
- Trees help us get and stay healthy. Green spaces reduce stress and its harmful effects, such as high blood pressure and depression. They also make it more attractive to get outside and get active. by
- Trees combat climate change. Greening communities is one of the greatest ways we can reverse and prevent the effects of global climate change.
